Heavy Downpour: 11-Year-Old Boy, Rescuer Swept By Flood, Dies

ABORU IYANA-IPAJA, LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA - Apparently due to the heavy downpour that greeted parts of Lagos on Saturday (today), an 11-year-old boy, alongside his rescuer simply identified as Wasiu, were taken killed and swept away by floods at Aboru and Iyana-Ipaja in Alimosho area of Lagos State, Nigeria.

The victims, according to our correspondent were  swept away at a canal linking Aboru and Iyana-Ipaja on Ige Road.

The incident was said to have occurred owing to the overflow of water from the canal.

Our team further learnt that two young boys who had been sent by their parents to buy cooking gas at a gas station, had fallen into a drainage that serves as a channel to the canal.
