National Assembly Poll: Ajimobi's Petition Lacking In Merit - APPEAL COURT


  • As Court Throws Out Petition 

IBADAN,  OYO STATE,  NIGERIA - The petition filed by the former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, challenging the verdict of the Election Petition Tribunal on the February 23 National Assembly Election for Oyo South,  was on Friday, November 1, 2019, dismissed by the Ibadan division of the Court of Appeal. 

It would be recalled that the Election Petition Tribunal had upheld the victory of Senator Kola Balogun (Oyo South),  who polled a total of 105,720 votes to defeat Ajimobi who had 92,218 votes.

In its judgment,  the Appeal Court through Justice Haruna Tsammani, dismissed Ajimobi’s petition on the grounds that same is lacking in merit.
