UYO,  AKWA IBOM STATE,  NIGERIA - Nollywood actors have been called upon to effectively market the projects and programmes of Governor Udom Emmanuel-led government for sustainable growth.

The commissioner for information, Charles Udoh, made the appeal during the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) National election over the weekend in Akwa Ibom State,  Nigeria.

Charles Udoh observed that with the Gov. Emmanuel's industrial revolution, the future of Akwa Ibom State was brighter as evident in the just-inaugurated flour mills, plywood factory and the Ibom Deep Seaport project.

Charles Udoh said Akwa Ibom is the preferred destination in terms of tourism in Nigeria, beautiful scene for movies, music,  videos, biggest stadium for football and more.

Charles Udoh also implored actors to be more creative in order to sustain the tempo for the Guild to command respect in the society and the world at large.

The excited Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Orman Essien, welcomed everyone to Akwa Ibom State, a state in Nigeria he said is after God’s heart, and is named after God; also known as 'The Land of Promise.'

Orman Essien promised to give the best host and express his concern about the success of the election.

“We urge everyone to be on deck to support the guild to usher in a new dawn, as the state has best infrastructure, best ambience, and hotel with the largest landmass in the whole of Africa, Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort.

"We are willing to partner with AGN, provide a studio but we need a commitment from the guild, which is a peaceful election,” Orman Essien said.

Orman Essien observed that the future of Akwa Ibom would be brighter than imagined with the industrial revolution of Gov. Udom Emmanuel such as Orange App amongst others.

The new mobile phone application is said to be known as the “Orange State”, to be launched by the Akwa Ibom State Government soon.

Orman Essien said that the idea is aimed at taking the awareness of tourism and economic potentials of Akwa Ibom to the global stage.

Orman Essien added that: “The application will provide information on every tourist location in the state and emergency services, cuisine and accommodation when downloaded.”

On this year’s Christmas celebration, Orman Essien revealed that a lot of activities are being put together to attract holiday makers and fun seekers from far and near to the state, assuring that the events will be unprecedented and colourful.
