IBADAN, NIGERIA - The Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, graduated in 1979 with a Second Class Honours (Lower Division).

This confirmation was made public by the University of Ibadan (UI) in a statement issued by its Registrar, Mrs Olubunmi Faluyi, who further confirmed that Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, studied Classics.

The statement equally clarified that Governor Godwin Obaseki gained admission to the university in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with a Second Class Honours (Lower Division).

According to UI, "Records of his admission and graduation are intact in the archives of the university.”

It would be recalled that some opposition leaders in the state’s chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been accusing Obaseki of presenting a fake certificate, adding that he did not graduate from the foremost higher institution.

Specifically, Governor Godwin Obaseki has been having confrontation(s) with his predecessor,  Adams Oshiomhole,  over the second term ticket.
